Bump Update: 22 Weeks

woah. I look PREGNANT. 😛

How far along? 22 Weeks

Baby’s size: Spaghtetti Squash (8 in., 1 pound) Can I just say, woah, one POUND?! that is awesome!

Total weight gain: 10.5 pounds

Maternity clothes: yes, although none of the pants fit me yet, but none of my old pants fit either (even with the assistance of the beband). it’s getting kind of frustrating. so I’m living in my skirts. and wearing yoga pants around the house. And if you see me out and about in jeans, chances are I will be yanking them up by the stretchy wasteband. hot.

Stretch marks? still nothing, here’s hoping.

Sleep: hasn’t been great, but I’m finding that it’s easier to go back to sleep after waking up to pee.

Best moment this week: so many great things happened this week. for one, I felt her move every single day this week. and she had the hiccups on friday night which was so entertaining. multiple people aksed if I was pregnant this week. all people I know but don’t see very often. still haven’t been asked by a stranger, but I’m sure that’s right around the corner. it’s actually fun being asked 🙂 then we celebrated Gman’s 1st birthday at his party yesterday. it was such a great party, and he was amazing. we also went to ikea today and purchased all of the wood laminate for the nursery and new guest room. yay 🙂

Food cravings: this weekend was not good for the cravings. in that I had them, and then couldn’t get them. 😛 first I wanted a panera bagel for Saturday morning but when we went into panera on friday night, they were COMPLETELY out of bagels. what kind of bagel place runs out of bagels? so then I wanted an entemann’s danish but when we went to the grocery store, they had other entemann’s products, but no danish. this afternoon I wanted a cherry icee so we went to ampm on our way home from ikea and the cherry had the red light on which says not to use it 😦

Food aversions: nothing really.

Gender: sugar and spice and everything nice.

Symptoms: backache is the worst.

Belly Button in or out? it’s really shallow.

Wedding rings on or off? still on.

Happy or Moody most of the time: I’m so happy, but I’ve had my cranky moments this week, that’s for sure.

Looking forward to: seeing dr. L tomorrow, and for when Jason will be able to feel our little girl’s kicks

What I miss: sushi. it seemed to be a huge topic of conversation this weekend, which just made it worse.

Movement: oh yeah. she’s a mover and a shaker for sure.

Doctor’s appointment: tomorrow afternoon 🙂

what’s cooking/kicking?

so funny story. my husband is an amazing cook. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before. but he is. and lately, he has been experimenting with wine-reduction sauces. and baby girl is LOVING it. like this one from last week:

it’s chicken marsala. see all the yummy mushrooms? I was in mushroom heaven. I love mushrooms right now and couldn’t get enough. well that evening and the whole next day, little girl was moving around like crazy. I figured she was loving the mushrooms as much as I was.

then last night, Jason made steak with a reduction sauce made from cabernet sauvignon. it was delicious, althouh mushroom-less. next time I will request mushrooms. baby girl has not stopped moving today. I’m loving feeling her move. it feels so special to be able to feel her moving around when no one else can feel her. and I’m cherishing this special time I’m getting with my daughter. I can’t wait for the time when we have a delicious meal and Jason can feel her response. obviously she is going to be a big fan of daddy’s cooking.  I am noticing some soreness though, so hopefully she takes a nap soon so that my insides can rest too 😛 but that’s not a complaint. just an observation.

Bump Update: 21 Weeks

How far along? 21 Weeks

Baby’s size: Banana (7 in, 11 oz)

Stretch marks? no

Sleep: has not been good, and the nightmares are crazy

Best moment this week: we painted the nursery!

Food cravings: sweets

Food aversions: nothing

Gender: Girl!

Symptoms: backache like whoah! it’s been a rough week. also, my allergies are going crazy. I know this isn’t technically a pregnancy symptom, however, I’m limited to how I can treat them, so I’m counting it.

Happy or Moody most of the time: happy

Looking forward to: registering

What I miss: sushi

Movement: still pretty sporadic, although, more frequent. loving it.

Bump Update: 20 Weeks – Half Baked!

How far along? 20 weeks – we are half way there!

Baby’s size: Small Cantelope (6.5 in, 10 oz)

Total weight gain: 6.5 pounds (baby and I both had a growth spurt this week :P)

Maternity clothes: yes!

Stretch marks? none yet 🙂

Sleep: I slept through an entire night without getting up two nights ago! it was fantastic

Best moment this week: I finished baby girl’s first baby blanket (pic below). I’m still learning my sewing machine, so it isn’t perfect, but I love it, and I can’t wait for our daughter to snuggle with it. it is a super soft cotton on top with owls on it, pink minky on the back, with a colorful cotton ruffle around the edges.

Food cravings: nothing really this week

Food aversions: nothing this week either

Gender: GIRL!

Symptoms: backaches, round ligament pain, fatigue

Belly Button in or out? still holding in there

Happy or Moody most of the time: feeling pretty moody this week

Looking forward to: we are painting the nursery next weekend!

What I miss: nothing

Movement: still very sporadic, and I can’t find a pattern to her wake time yet 😛

Doctor’s appointment: not for a couple more weeks

Bump Update: 19 Weeks

How far along? 19 weeks

Baby’s size: Mango (6 in, .5 lbs)

Total weight gain: 3.5 pounds

Maternity clothes: same shirts with stretchy skirts.

Stretch marks? nope

Sleep: still not great. I would love it if I could sleep through the night without waking up

Best moment this week: finding out the gender! and having most of our family and close friends here to celebrate with us. we are incredibly blessed to have so many amazing people in our lives. thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with us.

Food cravings: nothing really this week

Food aversions: eating in the evening was rough this week. I got a stomach ache pretty much every night. I’m not sure it counts as an aversion, but it was weird.

Gender: beautiful baby GIRL! 😀

Symptoms: fatigue, backache, stomach aches

Belly Button in or out? getting more shallow by the day it seems

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or Moody most of the time: this was such an exciting week. I’m pretty sure I was ecstatic most of this week

Looking forward to: painting the nursery and hubby getting flooring down.

What I miss: sushi 😛

Movement: our little miss was going CRAZY the other morning. usually I only feel her when I am laying down and am completely relaxed, but the other morning I felt her all the way to work, and when I was sitting at my desk. such a cool feeling

Doctor’s appointment: well our big doctor’s appointment was on Monday, however, little one was being shy. legs crossed, hands over her lap. nothing we did made her move. so we went back on Tuesday morning, and after drinking a full glass of OJ she showed the doctor what he needed to see 🙂 the doctor also said that everything is looking great and all of the blood screening they did came back negative, so we are on track for a perfect, healthy baby. praise God!

for funsies

the gender reveal is only 3 days away! so, just for fun, let’s take a look at some of those Old Wives Tales people like to use to predict the gender of a baby.

I feel I should put a disclaimer here: I realize these are not medically validated ways to predict the gender of my baby. this is just for giggles. oh, and I also didn’t do all of them. like the ring on a string. I never had string when I thought about that one.

Chinese Calendar: Girl this is a calculation using the Chinese Lunar Month of Conception and the Mother’s Age at the time of Conception. I just used a chart I found online 😛

Cravings: Boy salty signifies boy, while sweet signifies girl

Morning Sickness: Girl all day, every day morning sickness in the first trimester

Mayan Calendar: Girl this one takes into account my age, and the year the baby was conceived. If both are even, or both are odd, they predict girl, if one is even and one is odd, they predict boy.)

Skin: Boy acne free. this one made me laugh a little. apparently if your skin is a mess, it’s because your daughter is stealing your beauty. man, if anyone came up to me and said, ‘I think you are having a girl because you aren’t as pretty,’ they would get the ugly end of the pregnancy hormones for sure.

Sleep: Girl if you prefer to sleep on the right side – girl, left side – boy

Hands: Boy dry signifies boy, soft signifies girl

Graceful or Clumsy: Boy clumsy – boy, graceful – girl; I’m not sure this one is fair as I was CLUMSY before getting pregnant 😛

Mood Swings: Girl mood swings – girl, steady moods – boy

Carrying: Boy low – boy, high – girl

Husband’s weight: Boy not gaining or losing weight – boy, gaining weight – girl

Cold Feet: Girl if your feet are colder since becoming pregnant – boy, if they are the same – girl. My feet were always freezing before, and I have not noticed a difference

Bread: Girl if you want to eat the heel of the bread – boy, the middle – girl

Nail Health: Boy if your nails grow faster and stronger – boy, if they become weak and brittle – girl

Leg Hair: Boy if your leg hair grows faster – boy, the same – girl

The Mother-In-Law Test: Girl apparently, the gender of your mother-in-law’s first child predicts the gender of your first child.

So let’s do some math. that was 16 questions. the results:

Boy – 8

Girl – 8

ha! well I guess they say these predictors have a 50/50 chance of being right for a reason. so…

I guess we will all just have to wait until Saturday to find out.
